Getting Pain While Spinning?

Spin is one of our most popular classes here and is a world-wide smash in indoor exercise! It offers refuge during the winter months for the road cyclists and some people just like being out of breath for 45 minutes.
However, on a spin bike we see less than optimal posture. The ankles commonly sit in planter flexion, knees and hips are both flexed and the mid to upper back is sitting in flexion. Is this an issue? Continue reading

Goal Setting

In order to achieve, you need to have a goal. This is true of all works of life whether it be in your business life, your personal life or your gym life. Something I see go wrong far too often in peoples goals is the fact that they are way to out there. By this I mean people try and change every single thing and go all out 100% and after 2 weeks it stops and old habits creep back. A classic example of this is New Year’s Resolutions. People will think, “Right new year new me”. Now there is nothing specifically wrong with this but if you’re smoking 20 a day, eat chocolate all the time, don’t do any exercise and live off pot noodles then it’s very unlikely you’re going to be able to stop all of these habits and develop super healthy fantastic new ones all in the space of a month. My advice is to set achievable goals in the short term e.g. 4-6 weeks. This goal can be in accordance with a long term goal that may span over years or even a lifetime goal! Setting this short term goal will be a lot less overwhelming, and be a lot more achievable, and when you do achieve that goal you feel great about it! The psychological side of gym life is HUGE and it’s very easy to become unmotivated and feel like you’re never going to reach your goal if it is so looming. Continue reading

Gym TV’s

As you may have noticed we have had some TV’s put up in our gym. This is to help promote MYZONE to you all!

The TV’s that we have up in our gym display MYZONE on them all the time, however we don’t have any that are facing the cardio area. This is because we have it available on all the TV’s on our gym equipment! All you need to do is go to channel 800. This will take you to our MYZONE channel where you can view how you are doing!

Many of our members already use MYZONE. This is a fantastic system that helps keep you motivated whilst seeing how much effort you are putting in! It is particularly effective in classes, giving all MYZONE users a competitive edge to the class.

Our Gym Team can help you with your MYZONE belt and help you to understand the benefits and all the features of using a MYZONE belt to help with your training. Just ask away, we’re here to help.

MYZONE belts are available at reception for just £45 at the moment! That offer is better than half price with the RRP of £99.

MYZONE

In Jerry’s own words
‘The Myzone belt has helped me with my type 2 diabetes as I can now manage my weight more effectively and
monitor my heart rate on regular basis. It has pushed me to work harder and I can now see a huge improvement in my cardiovascular fitness and in my strength.’
‘There are many health benefits to gain from using the Myzone belt and I believe it is a worthwhile investment in your health now and on into the future.’MYZONE- Jerry

MYZONE

Below is a photo of one of our members here at the club.

Paula has been a member of the Atrium Club since July 2014. Last month, Paula was struggling to stay motivated in the gym. Therefore, she decided to buy a MYZONE Belt, which she is holding in the photo.

Here are some of Paula’s own words,
” The MYZONE belt helped me re focus when I was feeling stuck and needed a new incentive. The belt pushes me to work longer and harder in order to challenge myself. Losing weight is a massive bonus and I have now lost over a stone since the start of December and feel great ”

For information on the MYZONE please speak to a member of the gym team.
